Erste-Hilfe-Schule Schwaben e.K. offers officially approved First Aid Courses in English at Zeughaus Augsburg, starting April 2026. These courses are specifically designed for driving licence applicants of all classes and workplace first aiders who don't speak German.
Both driving students and workplace first aiders benefit from our motivated instructors, practical, hands-on training, and engaging, time-efficient courses that prioritize real-world application over theory. Small group sizes ensure personalized feedback, while the historic Zeughaus Augsburg venue offers easy access and nearby parking. Every participant receives a free First Aider Card alongside their official certificate, valid nationwide.
For Driving Licence Applicants preparing for their German driving licence, our English first aid course meets the legal requirements according to § 19 FeV for all driving licence categories - from cars of category B to motorcycles and trucks. No German language skills are needed, making it perfect for international driving school students, exchange visitors, or expats settling in Augsburg and Swabia. Complete the full course in one day at our central Zeughaus location and walk away with your official certificate, ready to proceed with your driving licence application without delays.
Workplace First Aiders in international companies will find our English courses DGUV-compliant and recognized by all employers' liability insurance associations across Germany. Whether your team includes non-German speaking employees from the UK, USA, Asia, or elsewhere, this training equips them to handle workplace accidents confidently - from office slips to manufacturing incidents. German law requires companies to designate trained first aiders, and our course covers everything from first response protocols to AED usage and documentation.

What qualifications do the first aid instructors have?
Our first aid trainers have completed training in the medical field. They are, for example, paramedics, emergency paramedics, emergency medical technicians, medical assistants or nurses. Subsequently, our instructors were trained as first aid trainers by an authorized associations. To be allowed to train continuously, regular further training in the medical and pedagogical field must be completed. Our instructors for first aid courses in educational and care facilities for children have additionally completed a further training specifically for first aid for children as required by the employers' liability insurance association.
Can first aid courses also be done online?
No, online courses are not recognized for workplace first aiders or driving licence applicants. First aid courses must be attended as face-to-face events. The aim of every first aid course is to impart not only theoretical knowledge but above all practical skills. The courses are intended to prepare for emergencies in real situations in which concrete actions are expected from the first aider. These actions must be practiced practically in the course. Therefore, online first aid courses are excluded for workplace first aiders and driving licence applicants.
Does every company need workplace first aiders?
In every business with two or more "insured persons", i.e. employees, present, sufficiently trained and regularly retrained first aiders must be available. The required number depends, among other things, on the type of business and the number of insured persons present: For 2 to 20 insured persons present, one first aider is required, for more than 20 insured persons present in administrative and commercial businesses 5%, in all other businesses 10%.
How often do workplace first aiders need to retrain?
The accident insurance carriers require regular retraining for workplace first aiders: Every 2 years, a first aid course with 9 teaching units is required.
What do I need to do to have the course fees reimbursed by the employers' liability insurance association?
In general, the employers' liability insurance association covers the costs for training and retraining of workplace first aiders. Most employers' liability insurance associations do not require an application for this. You only need a BG billing form, which you should bring to the course filled out and signed. However, there are exceptions: Members of BGN, BGW and KUVB or Bayer. LUK must apply for cost coverage in advance from their accident insurance carrier. There are different procedures depending on the BG. You can find more information on cost coverage here. For participation in a first aid course in English, we charge an additional fee on top of the cost coverage by the employers' liability insurance association.
